Bought it!

CHECK !!!!!
Alright. I am so pumped! We ordered my dress.
Pictures will be here soon!!

WELL...

I'm on my way to go get my dress.

Kyle coaxed me in the car to go to the store to get some groceries and we checked the mail. He got one of his extra job checks that helps a little bit, then I noticed an envelope from LONESTAR COLLEGE. YUP!!! It was my financial aid reimbursement. WOOHOOO!!!

I've got to work today, but Im taking Paige with me to go get it.

This cured my mood for a little bit.
Is it just me, or is it when things are coming together flawlessly, there is something that is bound to happen?

We were supposed to order my dress...TWO weeks ago. Then when we were going to go do it this weekend, my mom's truck was broken. Not that I'm depending on her by any means, but that was what she wanted to do for me. I'm not angry at her, but maaaan I am so frustrated. Then I get an email from Kyle's stepmom saying the 2k they said they'd be able to contribute has been lowered to $700. We're absolutely grateful for whatever we receive. But this is just a shot in the gut. Thats $1300 we have to pull out of..who knows where. On the dress front, that was THE dress. I mean, everything I ever wanted. It was a great price and the lady we were buying from was amazing. Now pushing it back this many weeks is putting us in a bind.

This is the first time in this wedding planning I've been down and not wanted to even do this. At this very moment I should've listened to Kyle and eloped.

Boo for days like this.

Picture time!

I just uploaded a BUNCH of pictures..from all sorts of stuff!

I went to Dollar Tree today to blow some time and I figure its not much money if I do end up buying something. Well!!! I found these CUUUUUUTE mint boxes.

They're adorable and I just saw them at the Bridal Extravaganza but they were colored, not white. Which, I like the white more anyway..so it worked out great! The lady wanted to sell them to me for $1 a piece (that was the special) and then charge me to put them together, not to mention the organza. In any event, this gives me another DIY project to do..whew! I did take pictures of some of the candy buffet things I bought as well. I guess I had a really productive weekend!

Candy buffet stuff!

On the bright side...

Im pretty excited! We have a cake tasting on thursday at Lindy's Cakes, right down the road. I have heard nothing but WONDERFUL reviews of their cakes, so Im pretty pumped about that. The baker that is referred to in our package said she 'doesnt do fondant.' PSH! Whatever, lady! All I want is fondant bows. I think you can manage. I've got a $475 cake budget to spend somewhere else. Im not sure if I can do it, but I hope i can come close to it at least! :) We can then spend that money budget on alcohol, linens, etc. So excited!

We've decided to have a small candy buffet as well. I know its all the rage..but honestly, we're doing it mostly to put our mind at ease. It just makes sense!

Im also going to get a swatch on Thursday of the bridesmaids dresses to start matching. To make sure its what I want!

Besides all that- I'm going over the DJ list and food list to get that set up. Now all I need is a freakin photographer!!!!!! Geez people, I dont want to pay $5k for pictures. Im sorry.

I get my book vouchers on Thursday. I get my books..and on Monday...I (bum bum buuuuuuum) start school. Man, its going to be tough. Im going to be one stressed out lady, but I can do it. Im pretty good at handling a lot on my plate. I just haven't done it in a while. Im so glad Im taking advantage of this week to get it all done.

I guess its official!

I don't know what it is-- but Im having one of those..." I am soooo lucky to be marrying him" sort of days. And I love every minute of it! Don't get me wrong. I know I am very lucky, Kyle's just been extraordinarly sweet this morning and now into the night. I feel bad. He probably won't be thinking that when he gets home tonight and realizes I didn't clean or do anything I said I would. :) I kid, I kid. Or at least I hope!

Its been a pretty nice "vacation"..I feel really rested, actually. I've needed to catch up on sleep, and just lounge. A lot of people think I do that all day, being a nanny and all. Totally the opposite. Try running around with 2 toddlers all day. Whew! I go back to work tomorrow morning, and start back to school the following monday. I have a feeling the next few months are going to fllllllly by.

In regards to the title of this blog...I guess we have to get married now. I BOUGHT MY VEIL TODAY! Woohoo! Pretty stoked is an understatement. What, what to the lady on the July 09 board for giving the heads up on target.com's sale. I got a long white veil (by the way, who knew they sold wedding stuff?) for $6.98!!!!!!!! How awesome! I should have it by the end of the week, so Ill take pictures.

We also sent in our picture for our cake. I was going to put a picture on here of it..but THANK YOU, COUTURE CAKE SHOP for not letting me take it..its a beautiful cake..

The 3rd one down (I believe) on the right..with the blue bows.

You know how I knew it was THE cake? Kyle LOOOOOOVED it. I told him, Im not looking at ANYTHING else, at all. Its the one!

I hope I can get a lot of work done this week before school starts. I don't know why I feel like its the end of the world, I just feel like I won't have any time anymore. Which Im sure is pretty accurate.

Its going to be a busy few weeks..
  • back to work
  • back to school
  • Bridal Extravaganza on Saturday
  • magnet party at Anna's Friday night
  • getting school stuff straight before it starts
  • meeting with baker for cake tasting
  • meeting with caterer for food tasting
  • meeting with photographers
  • meeting with DJ over music
  • meeting with wedding planner over linens
  • not to mention, ordering THE dress!

Wow.

First time for everything!

So here I am! I started a blog when we first got engaged, but honestly, I never kept up with it. Now that we are 6 months and a couple weeks away from "THE EVENT", as Kyle likes to call it, I decided I need to start one.

I start back to school on the 15th. I keep saying, only a few more years and it makes the semesters go by faster. Kyle is trying to transfer to a district closer to the house so he is home more. Which is an A+ in my book! :) Everyone asks me if I know what Im getting myself into, marrying a cop. Uhhhm! YEAH! I was with him when he was unemployed, when he started work as a jailer at the county jail, when he decided to go to the police academy and work, and I was there when he thought he didn't get hired right away. And IM HERE NOW! I totally know what Im getting myself into.

I don't know if Im the only one who gets told divorce statistics, but its pretty annoying, I know fire fighters, military, police officer, etc fiance's get the short end of the stick. But Im here to say, I don't think of myself as a statistic. And I DEFINITELY won't think of my marriage as a statistic either.

Anyway, thats been on my mind lately. I almost want to bet that same person will get me that "I married a cop" book when we get married.. ohh boo!

So on to our checks!!!

  • venue (chapel and reception hall)
  • caterer
  • DJ
  • half of the flowers
  • bridesmaids dresses have been picked out (purchased by first week in FEB)
  • cake
  • invitations picked out
  • favors picked out
  • picked out my dress, order will be placed on Jan. 15th

Some things we need to do:

  • get invitations printed
  • find a wholesaler for flowers
  • find hairstylist and make up artist
  • get signed contract from photographer
  • get officiant
  • finish favors

Im going to stop right there. Im starting to get pretty anxious! Whoa! 6 months. We can do it, all you other July 09 brides!

Im so glad I decided to start a new blog, and will definitely be updating. Its 2009! Its a new year for a new me!
